You might ask what is a TIS? Well “TIS” is a Technology Integration Specialist and they are part of a Statewide Instructional Technology (SIT) project from Title II-D funding by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE).
The focus of the SIT Project is to support academic achievement by helping teachers integrate technology into the curriculum. Every TIS is required to have an active Arizona teaching certificate and classroom experience. Each county has a TIS who offers a wide array of training and/or works directly with teachers in their classrooms.
Some of the areas that TISs offer professional development in are:
- Intel Teach Courses
- Discovery Educator Resources
- Thinkfinity
- Google Tools
- MS Office
- Multimedia
- Digitial Camera
- Web 2.0 Tools
- and many others.
There are 13 TISs across the state and you need to get to know your TIS.
