Learn how K-12 students and teachers can use Web 2.0 tools to produce interdisciplinary user-created content that engages, empowers and motivates 21st century learners. In this 2-hour workshop, participants create GoogleTreks (mapping mash-ups) that incorporate research, photos, podcasts, and other digital data they wish to share with others around the world. GoogleTreks engage students in problem solving, critical thinking, visual literacy, contexts for spatial and cultural differences, and communication skills.

Afteer this session, participants will be able to:
• Plan and implement curricular units in which they create mapping mash-ups to engage learners
• Assist students in planning and creating mapping mash-ups to share ideas with other learners
• Share with colleagues numerous examples of how mapping mash-ups can be used in a variety of K-12 settings
• Use real-world data to encourage high order thinking skills in K-12 or university students
