Reflections on the year

Well folks, it has been an outstanding year for AzTEA.  As you probably know from listserv postings from me, our own Helen Padgett has been elected as President-Elect for ISTE.  This is a great honor for her (and well deserved) and for our organization.  Also, Cathy Poplin was elected to the Board of the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA).

AzTEA is looking for help (11 Aug 08)

The Board of Directors has decided that it is time for AzTEA to take the next step. We are in the process of hiring an new Executive Director. We are starting by looking for a part-time consultant to get us up and running.

If you or anyone you know might be interested in this position, please visit http://aztea.wikispaces.com/ExecDir for more information.

Welcome Back (11 Aug 08)

Well, it is that time of year (for those of you not on year-round calendars :).  So good wishes from AzTEA as you gear up and get ready for another school year.

Remember, if you need help finding resources or new teaching tips to look through our site (which we will be improving this year) and come to one or all of our conferences.

I hope your year goes well!

Thoughts from NECC (1 Jul 08)

The new NETS for teachers have been released and I have the feeling that we will like most, if not all, of them.  I would encourage you to visit the NETS-T page and review the standards.

Second Life Update (13 May 08)

The AzTEA presence in Second Life has been up for several months. As of today, we have had 477 visitors who have spent around 25 hours on the island. Many of these visitors are only there for a short time but we have had one workshop held in world.

I would love to talk to anyone who would like to become active in our SL presence. I have had suggestions of setting up a docent station where members could great visitors. We will also be holding a professional development workshop and I am looking for volunteers to held plan and coordinate the event.

A little more on Second Life (13 Feb 08)

Our spot on ISTE Island is coming along nicely and I encourage you to come visit if you have already signed up for SL. Not signed up yet? Don’t worry I’ll be doing some workshops in the coming months and I am more than happy to “meet” you in world if you’d like to explore on your own.

In the meantime, if you’d like to learn a little about the use of Second Life in higher education, you might be interested in this podcast recorded at the Recent EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative Annual Conference.

Join us in an adventure (31 Jan 08)

AzTEA has recently joined the ISTE island in the virtual world of Second Life. We have purchased a small space to promote our organization and to explore the possibilities of this tool to support Professional Development.

And I’m looking for volunteers! If you are interested in helping us in Second Life, send me a note at president@aztea.org.

Not sure what Second life is? Don’t worry, I’ll be happy to show you.

Voluteer to help your organization (3 Jan 08)

Hello everyone,

As you reflect on your New Year’s resolutions, I’d like to encourage you to think about becoming involved in AzTEA. As an all-volunteer organization, we have a variety of opportunities to involve you in our activities. This includes not only our conferences but also our other professional development activities and services. I am writing you today with two opportunities to do just that.
